1. The chip of the satellite signal receiving module. This is an important component that determines the accuracy and speed of GPS. Choosing a outdated chip means that when your car reaches an intersection, you need to wait for GPS to tell you how to go before you can drive. If you walk at normal speed, you will occasionally have to return to the original route and correct errors. Currently, the first to third generation chips on the market are in use, and most dealers do not tell you the chip performance of their products when selling GPS. It's like when you buy a phone, people won't tell you how much CPU the phone has, because once they tell you that the CPU version of the phone is very low, it will affect its usage speed. Would you still buy this phone? (I use a certain brand of GPS navigator, and at every intersection from Shenzhen to Zhuhai, the GPS response speed and driving speed will differ by a few seconds to more than ten seconds, making the driving experience very uncomfortable.)
2. The speed of map updates. Nowadays, the speed of construction and development in various places is very fast. If manufacturers do not provide map update services in a timely manner, your GPS will not have much use. Of course, GPS sales personnel will not proactively tell you about this. The salesperson will tell you how many places and towns can be covered by the maps installed in its GPS. But if you think about it, if the map is not updated, it won't be long before your GPS displays a map that is very different from the actual one. (I used another brand of GPS navigator to travel 160 kilometers from Fuxin City to Changchun City. The reason is that the Tiechao Expressway has been open for 10 months and there is only 380 kilometers between the two places. However, the GPS navigator still instructed me to take the old road of Shenha Expressway, which is 540 kilometers between the two places.)
3. Provide a time for free updates. Generally, GPS produced by informal enterprises uses cracked maps and does not provide update services. Some companies still use genuine maps but do not provide update services. Some companies also use genuine maps, but there is an additional fee for map updates. Some companies also provide you with long-term free map updates. You should know that the price ratio of the common GPS navigator hardware itself in the market to the price of genuine map software is about 1:3 or 1:6, which means that the hardware is cheaper than the software. So, when choosing a GPS navigator, you need to look at both hardware and software. Otherwise, the GPS you have in hand is a useless piece of junk.
